Authorities search for cop impersonator in Snow Hill

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating a report of a man posing as an officer when he pulled a woman over late Wednesday night in Snow Hill.

According to reports, at 10:45 PM a woman says she was stopped by a sedan with red and blue flashing lights on Route 12 in the area of Carmean Road.

The suspect reportedly told her she had been speeding and demanded her driver's license and registration.

Police say she reportedly became suspicious when she noticed his badge only said "POLICE" and did not have an agency name or other familiar identifiers for police officers. That's when she allegedly sped off, possibly running over the suspect foot.

The male suspect is described as 5'6" and heavy set. He was reportedly wearing a brown button up shirt with the badge on his left chest.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may have also been stopped in this area is asked to contact the Worcester County Sheriff's Office at 410-632-1111.
