Adopt-A-Block hosts their Christmas Giveaway passing out 200 gifts

The Emmanuel Wesleyan church and volunteers spread a little holiday cheer of their own by passing out gifts and meals to families in need through the Adopt-A-Block program.

The program chooses specific areas in town, as they hand deliver food and supplies to families.

And this Adopt-A-Block had a holiday twist with a Christmas Giveaway.

Over 70 volunteers helped pass out 200 gifts.

They even created Christmas cards that were individually signed with special messages.

The organizer, Mark Thompson tells us they gave unwrapped gifts to parents. That way, they can wrap the gifts themselves and personally give them to their children.

Thompson tells 47 ABC this program is truly a community effort involving volunteers from all over.

The Adopt-A-Block program will take a break in January but will start back up in February. They'll go to different locations every other Saturday.
