UPDATE: Jury selected in trial against suspect charged with daycare death

A jury of 12 people has been chosen in the trial against a daycare owner charged with the death of an infant.

Valorie Handy, 52, will face trial Wednesday.

Handy was arrested in January 2015 after police say a ten-month-old boy was found unresponsive at her home daycare Little Disciples on Layton-Davis Road.

Carl Kanefsky, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice, says prosecutors are still in the process of an evidentiary hearing. The hearing establishes guidelines for expert testimonies expected during the course of trial.

Handy faces one charge of murder by abuse or neglect. A public defender entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Valorie Handy in August 2015.
