Traffic stop in Dover leads to drug arrests

Police say a traffic stop in Dover led to the arrest of two people over the weekend, after police found various drugs in their vehicle.

According to Dover Police on Friday around 2:00 PM, officers stopped a vehicle for the use of a cell phone while driving on Route 13 and Jefferic Boulevard. Police say, the driver was 32-year-old Ashley Everett and the passenger was 42-year-old Keyatak Flowers. Officers say when they approached the vehicle, they detected the odor of marijuana. As the officers were detaining both subjects, Flowers fled on foot. Officers say they attempted to stop Flowers with a taser, Flowers then fought the officers attempts to take him into custody, hitting one officer reportedly causing minor injuries. Flowers was then reportedly tasered a second time, which allowed the officers to take him into custody.

When Flowers fled, he reportedly attempted to hide a bag under a nearby vehicle. Officers say they found the bag and discovered 5.2 grams of crack cocaine, 13 bags of heroin, 2.8 grams of MDMA, and various drug paraphernalia.

Flowers is being charged with a number of offensives including possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, possession of deadly weapon during commission of a felony, and assault. Flowers was also wanted by four other agencies outside of Delaware and was also connected to an additional drug case in Dover. He is being held in default of $24,250 secured bond.

Everett is also being charged with a number of offensives including possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and heroin, conspiracy, and tampering with physical evidence. She is being held in default of $13,125 secured bond.
