Survey: 45 percent of americans plan on discussing politics during Thanksgiving meal

With Thanksgiving just a few days, folks are gearing for home cooked meals, but also making it to people’s plate could be a side of politics.

According to an online survey conducted by ABC News and Social Science Research Solutions, a research firm, 45 percent of Americans are planning to discuss politics during their thanksgiving meal. 47 ABC spoke to folks to see if they expect the same during their thanksgiving dinner.

“I’m sure it will come up,” says John Unruh, from Salisbury.

“Not at all. My family don’t talk about politics at all at the dinner table, I just think it is inappropriate anyways,” says Charles Mitchell, from Salisbury.

Aliyah Gibson says, “I think for us specifically, I don’t think we’ll spend much time talking about politics. I think thanksgiving is a time of positivity and family and you want to be in good spirits.”

The survey also found that 38 percent of people thought talking about politics would be at least somewhat stressful.
