SU police speak on emergency protocol after OSU incident

Following Ohio State University’s incident, 47 ABC reached out to a campus locally to see what they would do in a similar situation.
Salisbury University’s police chief, Edwin Lashley, tells 47 ABC if an incident like Ohio State’s happened on their campus police would follow emergency protocol.
This includes a series of notifications and alerts to students and faculty members on campus.
Lashley tells us they would send out alert text messages, sound the campus siren, and stop programming on TV’s and computers to warn individuals, as well as Twitter.
He says events like this happen quick, but his officers have had extensive training from the state police, US Marshal’s office and the FBI to be ready.
Lashley adds, “You never know if your ready for an event like this but we do rehearse, we do train, we are equipped, and we’re confident that we will direct resources and try to keep our people safe.”
The chief also mentioned a series of preventative measures students and faculty can take to be prepared in a emergency situation.
