Slaughter House Farms supports our troops

Slaughter House farms in laurel Delaware is Operation We Care’s biggest fundraiser for the year. Every Friday and Saturday in the month of October a portion of the proceeds made at the haunted house attraction go towards Operation We Care’s mission.

This non-profit organization supports troops by sending care packages all around the world to them as well as providing support to their families back home. Operation We Care spends $30,000 a year on postage alone so, support from places like slaughter house really help. Last year the attraction raised $14,000 for  OWC and as for this year, they are still counting.

“It’s an all volunteer effort and it takes about 100 people to run the attraction in one night,” said Operation We Care’s coordinator, Jeff Merritt. “So, to gather a hundred people on a volunteer basis every weekend in October on Friday and Saturday night is a testimony to the enthusiasm of the people involved in this thing.”

Operation We Care just teamed up with America’s VetDogs. Which is an Eastern Correctional Institution program that allows inmates to  train service dogs for wounded veterans, including many coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
