Police say no credible threats to public safety for Election Day

Nationwide there have been a number of threats reported both on the internet and otherwise regarding potential violence after the election results are in, but locally in Wicomico County Maryland State Police say there are no credible threats at this time.

47 ABC spoke with Maryland State Police Lieutenant Ryan Bricker about what voters should expect in the coming hours after the election.

He tells us police are on high alert and will be ready if something does come up but for now he says voters and residents should not worry about their safety.

“I think everybody needs to be sound and mind, you know everything will be fine everything will work out just respect everybody’s privacy and their right to vote and everything will be fine,” says Lt. Bricker.

He adds if there is an issue, do not hesitate to call your local police department.

The American Civil Liberties Union is also looking to help. They have a voter hotline open tonight until 8 p.m.
