Nat’l search underway for new Salisbury chamber leader

A nationwide search is now underway for the next president of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce.

This search comes after the current president Ernie Colburn announced his plans to retire.

John McClellan, chairman of the the search committee and past chamber president, tells us there’s no immediate deadline to find Colburn’s replacement.

Colburn says he could stay on board until the end of 2017, but the committee is not wasting any time on the search.

According to McClellan, this job can be very challenging and will take the right person.

“I think what we’re looking for is someone who has that managerial talent, to be able to step in, run a rather large, large-budget organization, dealing with staff challenges that any CEO position would face, deal with 800-member companies and they all have a variety of needs,” he explains.
