Monday Memo – November 14, 2016
MONDAY MEMO
TO: ALL STAFF
FROM: KATHLEEN
DATE: 14 NOVEMBER 2016
SAD NEWS
I’m very sad to report that one of our long-time Weather Watchers, Tom Hubric from Waterview, passed away from cancer on 3 November. Tom was a retired airline pilot and spent his time tending chickens and ducks to sell their eggs at local farmers’ markets. He also spent his retirement watching the weather and letting us know about it. As a former pilot, you always knew it was Tom leaving the temperature and weather when he talked about the specific height of the cloud decks and his very descriptive way of talking about the precipitation. He always gave the time in military time. He was a special Weather Watcher that touched my heart and I think I can speak for the Weather Department and Station when I say he will be dearly missed. (from Travis Michels)
NOVEMBER SWEEPS
• The November Ratings Period goes for another week and a half, ending the day before Thanksgiving. As a broadcaster, you and any member of your household are not permitted to participate in any television survey conducted by Nielsen. If you receive a telephone call about participating, advise them as to why you cannot. If you receive paperwork, return it to Nielsen with an explanation and advise your Supervisor. In advance, thanks for your cooperation.
STATION FREEBIES!
• Congratulations to Darryl Baxter, winner of our Crime Watch Daily Flashlight/Gadget in last week’s drawing. Because it was such a popular item, we decided to repeat the prize AGAIN for this week. You can sign up for your chance to win on the Station bulletin board across from the time clock. In a deviation from usual procedure, this week the drawing will be Thursday morning and the winner announced in the next Monday Memo.
