Milton Police Department apart of ‘Bigs in Blue’ program

Through Facebook, Milton Police Department has posted that some of their officers have been participating in a ‘Bigs in Blue’ program.

Sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters, ‘Bigs in Blue’ is an initiative that pairs cops with children for mentoring, in order ease tensions with police officers.

Police-involved shootings have sparked protests across the country. But this mentoring program is connecting police authorities with children to hopefully tear down that wall, of any sort of fear and create relationships with our community.

The program hopes to create bonds between law enforcement and the families they serve.

Milton officer, Talon Taylor says being involved and being accessible is very important. He states, “It’s good for them to know they can come speak to you about anything at any time and you’re going to be receptive of them. So people in the community here, they back us, we back them.”

Officer Taylor tells 47 ABC, that besides joining ‘Big in Blue’, they enjoy being very involved in the community through other initiatives as well.
