MD328 near Black Dog Ally to be closed for culvert replacement

On Friday, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration is set to replace aging and deteriorated twin culverts that carry Kings Creek under MD 328 between US 50 and Black Dog Ally in Easton.
Weather permitting, crews are scheduled to reopen the road by 5AM on Monday, November 7.
SHA officials describe the issue as follows, “The 24-inch metal culverts have outlived their useful life and are in need of replacement. SHA is replacing the pipes with two 42-inch concrete culverts that will reduce localized flooding during heavy rain storms and snow melt.”
SHA’s contractor, Covington Welding and Machine of Annapolis, is set to close MD 328 at 6PM on Friday, and immediately begin excavating to remove the old culverts.
Officials say that crews will use signage to direct drivers to a detour using Black Dog Ally and MD 331. SHA also notes that it will suspend lane closures on MD 331 associated with the Dover Bridge project to enhance traffic flow along the detour route.
SHA reports that about 10,000 drivers use this section of Matthewstown Road daily, so drivers should plan extra travel time during the project.
Drivers are also reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely.
