Man arrested on attempted murder and assault charges in Easton

Police say a man has been arrested on murder and assault charges in Easton.

According to Easton Police, officers served an arrest warrant on 34-year-old Dennis Ayers of Easton. Police say the arrest warrant charges Ayers with attempted first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and dangerous weapon conceal and carry with intent to injure.

Ayers was reportedly taken before a Talbot County District Court Commissioner where he was ordered to be held on no bond.

Police say on October 12 around 11:54PM, officers were called to the Easton Memorial Hospital because of a person who was stabbed. Further investigation reportedly found that the victim and Ayers had been drinking when they got into an argument, and Ayers pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

The victim was reportedly then taken to PRMC and released after being treated for his injuries.
