ECI officer who got inmate stabbed takes plea

Another correctional officer from Eastern Correctional Facility has taken a plea deal, marking the second in as many weeks to do in the massive alleged contraband smuggling operation at the prison. CO Stephen Wise aka “The Horse” took a plea deal this week. CO Rachelle Hankerson plead guilty last week, admitting her role in the operation.

Like Hankerson, Wise accepted bribes from inmates to smuggle in contraband for them. However it appears from court documents that Wise was the bigger “player” in the operation between him and Hankerson.

According to the plea deal, Wise accepted money from at least five inmates to smuggle in contraband. Wise also ordered the stabbing of another inmate, because that inmate got him transferred to a different part of the prison.

As part of the deal Wise pleaded guilty to racketeering.
That carries a maximum sentence of twenty years behind bars.
