Del. officials discuss ways of improving quality of life for Latinos

‘Connecting Through Civic Engagement,’ that was the theme of this years Latino Summit in Delaware.
On Thursday, Delaware officials and residents met at the Delaware Tech campus in Georgetown to discuss ways to improve the quality of life for all Latinos in Delaware.
Among the topics discussed Thursday were; education, economic development, and health. One way the Delaware Hispanic Commission is looking to improve in these areas is by informing residents about how they can make changes on the local and state levels.
“It goes beyond voting it goes to the fact on how we can participate and make local changes that really impact the lives of Delewareans and especially the lives of Latinos, there’s a lot of needs within our community but a lot of times we are not present at those meeting,” said Javier Torrijos the Chair of the Delaware Hispanic Commission.
Officials from the Delaware Hispanic Commission also 47 ABC they they will soon be releasing a healthcare study and be making recommendations to improve healthcare services for Delaware Latinos.
