Code Purple in Sussex County is in effect

Code Purple in Sussex County is in effect on November 12, 2016. The Code Purple program offers emergency shelters for the homeless during cold winter nights.
Inside these shelters, they offer food and a bed, and also provide those who are homeless, proper care for the night when the weather drops to cooler temperatures.
Shelters opened in Milford and Georgetown for men only and also in Bridgeville for women and children.
The address for the Milford location is Avenue United Methodist Church at 20 N Church Street. For Georgetown, the location is Shepherd’s Office House at 408 N Bedford Street. The Bridgeville location is Gateway Fellowship is located at 8110 Cannon Road.
Code Purple’s Director, Nikki Gonzalez tells 47 ABC the shelters will be available in November and December when it is under 32 degrees and then we will be open every day from January to March 12th, 2017.
Gonzalez tells us they are accepting donations for food, such as non-perishable items and snacks to go.
