Cape Henlopen Field Hockey Picks Up 2-0 Win

Cape Henlopen used to second half goals Tuesday afternoon to defeat Indian River 2-0 in the first round of the DIAA State Tournament. The Vikings will now face the winner of Tower Hill vs. Sussex Tech on Saturday.
The showdown in Cape Henlopen was everything that it was built up to be. In the first half it was a highly defensive game as not only did goalie Mya Parks for the Indians show up, but also their whole defense was helping her makes stops. The defense of cape wasn’t letting anything through as Indian River couldn’t get many shots off on goal. The half ended with a tie at 0. For the second half, it was all Cape Henlopen as Jacqueline Cannon comes out with a goal to get the Vikings going helping them take the lead 1-0. After a play that the Indians thought was a goal for them, the Vikings capitalized as the Indians were slow getting back on defense with a goal from Mia Carulli. Carulli’s goal sealed the game for the Vikings as they went on to win 2-0.
