Brittingham Nets 2 As Warriors March On To State Title

The Pocomoke boys soccer team is headed back to the 1A State Title game for the first time since 2009 after earning a 2-0 win over Patterson Mill. The Warriors will now face Pikesville at Loyola.

After waiting over 79 minutes before finding their first goal in the regional title, the Warriors would waste little time in this one. Just 15 minutes into the game, Gus Enriquez would send a ball into the box. It would be knocked around for a bit before Noah Brittingham was able to volley it into the back of the net for the first score of the game. That combo would team up again just 10 minutes later. Pocomoke would draw a corner and Enriquez would play it short near post. Brittingham would come flying in, and head it far post to push the lead to 2-0.

Pocomoke would ride their 2-0 lead into halftime, then shift into a defensive set. The Warriors packed the box forcing every shot to come from outside the box and often with traffic between them and the frame. Ethan Peterson would come up big in goal for the Warriors, clearing everything that came his way. Patterson Mill continued to press but was never able to get Pocomoke’s defense to crack, as time ran out, sending the Warriors to the title match.
