Bridgeville man arrested on drug charges

On Monday, members of the Harrington Police Department say they arrested a man on drug charges after responding to a report of a suspicious person.

Police were called to a business in the Midway Shopping Center in reference to a report that someone might be using drugs in the bathroom. When officers arrived, they searched the bathroom but did not find anyone in there. They did, however, see Linwood J. Brummell, 39, of Bridgeville, as he was leaving the business and searched him, but could not find any drugs or paraphernalia. After police questioned Brummell, he was released.

As police were clearing the scene, they noticed Brummell sitting in a car in the parking lot. According to the report, after running the registration, officers found out that it was false, so they approached Brummell again. When an officer opened the door to the car, they saw a bundle of heroin lying on the floor.

Brummell was taken into custody without incident, and was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. Police reported to have found .55 grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia in the car. Brummell was charged with possess or consume a controlled substance with an aggravating factor, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license and fictitious or cancelled registration. He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on $3,550 unsecured bond.
