Blue Raiders Lay The Wood On Howard To Open States

The Woodbridge football team was the best in all of Division 2 throughout the regular season. Friday night, they proved they were the best going into the playoffs as well.

The Blue Raiders had their way with Howard in the first round of the DIAA State Tournament, rolling to a 48-12 win. Woodbridge advances to the second round of the state tournament for the second straight year.

The offense was clicking early on for the Blue Raiders as Troy Haynes led his team down the field before capping off the drive with a short touchdown run. After Howard was forced to punt, the Blue Raiders would be right back at it. This time Haynes found Terrique Riddick for a short touchdown strike. Haynes would add another score on the ground after that to push the lead to 3 touchdowns. The lead continued to grow as RJ Thomas would recover a fumble in the endzone to stretch the lead to 27-0. The Blue Raiders defense was dominate all night, led again by Shymere Vessels and Leah Styles. Haynes would add another touchdown with just 11 seconds left in the half to push the lead to 33 and put the game away.

Woodbridge will wait for the rest of the Division 2 games to finish to find out who they will face next.
