AG Frosh opens hate crime hotline

Since the election hate crimes directed at racial and ethnic minorities as well as those in the LGBT community have increased in Maryland, that according to attorney general Brian Frosh.

Because of that  the attorney general’s office has launched a hotline to report hate crimes in the state. In an announcement Thursday Frosh encouraged anyone who may be a victim of unlawful harassment or intimidation to call the hotline. Complaints of anything happened for children grades kindergarten through 12th grade should be reported directly to the school.

In a phone conversation with 47 ABC Frosh said he hopes these reported hate crimes will soon come to an end.

“I hope that we’re not going to get to a point in our society where this is an everyday occurrence and where people are being incarcerated for that kind of activity,” Frosh said.

The number for the hate crime hotline is 1-866-481-8361.
