16-year-old arrested after running from stolen car

On November 8, members of the Harrington Police Department say they arrested a 16-year-old after trying to stop a stolen car.
According to the report, while on patrol, police noticed a car driving on South DuPont Highway that fit the description of a recent stolen vehicle that had been broadcasted to all patrol units. An officer ran the tag and confirmed that the car had been reported stolen to the Delaware State Police, so he activated his emergency lights and tried to stop the car.
Officials say that the car did not stop, and led the officer on a pursuit onto Jackson Ditch Road and then Rachel Drive. The officer reported that the vehicle then stopped, and three occupants ran from the car on foot. The officer said they were able to catch one of the people running from the car, a 16-year-old Dover juvenile, and took him into custody. The juvenile apparently told officers that he smoked marijuana before running from the car.
The 16-year-old was charged by the Harrington Police Department with possess or consume marijuana under 18 and resisting arrest. No bond information was available, and the juvenile was turned over to the Delaware State Police for questioning about the stolen vehicle.
