sex abuse case involving instructors at mitchell’s martial arts in salisbury. friday — when we first broke the news – details were scarce. however today — 47 abc’s julian sadur obtained the charging documents in this case. he reviewed them — and joins us now live in studio with this update. julian? emily – two employees – zachariah bennett an instructor- and leah wright have been charged with sexually abusing underage female students while working at mitchell’s martial arts. the details in these documents – unsettling to say the least. we do want to warn you this story does contain some graphic details. track 26-year-old zachariah bennett served as an instructor at mitchell’s martial arts in salisbury – where he was tasked with looking after and instructing students and gaining their trust – trust he allegedly abused when he engaged in sexual acts with two students – and sent sexual pictures to another one. court documents show that after a period of time where bennett was allegedly sending sexual messages to victim number one – a fifteen year old girl at the time – that bennett allegedly felt he could quote trust her. after that bennett had the victim perform oral sex on him three separate times – one of the times bennett reportedly tried having sex with her. also allegedly involved with victim one – 21-year-old leah wright – who according to court documents alternated performing oral sex on bennett with victim one on one occasion — and served as a lookout for bennett on a separate one. for victim 2 – who was 14 years old when the abuse started – the pattern was similar. the victim alleging that bennett began sending her sexually explicit texts – then when she was 15 bennett had her perform oral sex on him. all of the acts allegedly happening inside of the mitchell’s martial arts building – including places like the skate room – the d-j booth – and the restroom. lastly – victim three – who was a 13 year old female at the time of the abuse – alleged bennett sent her sexually explicit texts – sent her explicit photographs – and even touched her buttocks in a sexual manner. court documents say bennett confirmed some of the allegations – but not all of them – in a police interview. bennett is facing 27 child sex abuse charges including first degree rape – he is currently being held without bond at the wicomico county detention center. his attorney steven cox declined to comment on the story. meanwhile wright is facing 21 child sex abuse charges – including sexual abuse of a minor. she is also being held at the wicomico county detention center without bond. emily – back to you. thanks julian, that’s 47 abc’s julian sadur reporting in studio for us tonight. court documents say bennett will also be facing criminal charges in worcester county in relation to victim number three. this marks the second time a mitchell’s martial arts employee has been charged with sexual abuse in five years. for more coverage on this developing case- just logon to our website 47-abc-dot-com. after multiple delays and postponements —
