Worcester Co. encourages residents to be cautious of minor flooding and downed trees

A release from Worcester County says that some minor coastal flooding and downed trees in areas where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rains could be expected over the weekend if it continues raining.

Officials encourage residents to use caution when traveling in areas where recent flooding has happened and to be aware of the possibility of falling trees.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, widespread rainfall flooding is not anticipated, since rainfall will most likely happen over an 18-24-hour period from Friday night through Saturday night.

Officials tell residents that it is still a good idea to put together a disaster supply kit and create an evacuation plan that can be modified as needed to address potential future natural or manmade disasters.

At the end of the release, officials put out the following statement:

“The Worcester County Commissioners recognize that a number of county residents have friends and own properties in areas, such as North Carolina and Florida, that lie in the current path of the hurricane. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who may be impacted by this weather emergency.”
