UPDATE: SCCC missing offender apprehended

Officials say that an offender who failed to return from an approved job seeking pass has been apprehended.
On Monday, Tomeka Smith, was apprehended by members of the Governor’s Task Force. According to the report, Task Force Officers made contact with Smith at Carvel Gardens in Laurel, Delaware.
Smith has now been committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.

Authorities in Georgetown say they are searching for an inmate, who did not return from an authorized pass.
The Sussex County Correctional Center, in Georgetown, says that 29-year-old Tomeka Smith, has failed to return from an approved job seeking pass.
Smith is described by law enforcement as a female, standing 5’02”, weighing 107 pounds, with red hair, brown eyes, and has tattoos on her back, left forearm, and neck. Her last known address is reported as being in Millsboro, Delaware.
Officials say that Smith’s location is unknown, and unauthorized at this time, so a warrant for escape and conviction has been issued. According to the report, Smith’s current offense is violation of probation for a charge theft under $1500.
It is important to keep in mind that Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities, where the Department of Correction manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. So, these centers are not secured like Level 5 prisons, meaning offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions.
