Troopers investigate death of inmate at Hagerstown prison

(AP) – Maryland State Police are investigating the apparent slaying of an inmate at a prison in Hagerstown.
The agency said in a news release that 26-year-old Benjamin Hall was found dead on the floor of his cell at the Maryland Correctional Institute about 11 p.m. Monday.
Troopers say Hall, who was serving a 7-year sentence for theft, may have gotten into a fight with another inmate in his cell. Investigators say the other inmate called for a medic about 10:30 p.m.
Hall’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore to determine the cause and manner of death.
Troopers say they have identified a suspect in the crime, but will not identify him until he is charged.
