Troopers are investigating a trolley crash south of Dewey Beach

The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash involving a Jolly Trolley that occurred Saturday afternoon south of Dewey Beach.

According to police, the crash occurred around 4:41 p.m.  Police state a 76-year-old Lewes man was operating a 2005 Ford Econo Van pulling the Jolly Trolley that had approximately 22 passengers on board. Police say the passengers were wedding guests.

For an unknown reason, police report the trailer started to sway and then overturned in the southbound lanes of State Road 1 south of Dewey Beach.

Police report the van immediately stopped and bystanders in the area began pulling the passengers from the trolley.

At least 12 people were transported to close by hospitals where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the operator of the van was uninjured.

DSP say no citations were issued and the crash remains under investigation.
