Teen indicted on murder and robbery charges in Nate Ayres murder

A teen being charged in the death of Nathaniel Ayres, has been indicted in Accomack County.
According to the Accomack County State’s Attorney, 17-year-old Zachary Townsend is being charged as an adult in the murder of 19-year-old Nathaniel Ayres.
Townsend was reportedly indicted on charges of robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a robbery, first degree murder, and a second count of a use of a firearm in commission of a murder on October 3.
Officials say Townsend faces up to 20 years to life if he is found guilty on the first degree murder charge.
Townsend is reportedly being held without bond at the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.
According to officials, trial has been set for February 2, 2017 in Accomack County Circuit Court.
Officials say, Ayres died because of gunshot wounds after an incident that occurred on August 12 near the intersection of Nocks Landing Road and Greta Road near Atlantic.
Townsend was arrested on August 17 at his home in Atlantic.
