Sweet Serenity Chocolates

sweet serenity chocolates before– when we first started kitchen insider about 3 years ago– and it was certainly a delicious experience. well, this month they are joining the fight against breast cancer and serving up some delicious chocolate treats. take a look. track 1- when you cross that threshold from reality into a chocolate lover’s paradise, you are hitwith plenty of items themed for fall and halloween. all of our regular chocolates, we decorate and dress up for both fall and halloween with reds and yellows and purples and greens track 2- they also do special designs.look at these cute little cake pops -decorated like monsters, vampires, cyclops and more. they’re in their 6th year of business and rachel says some folks are still surprised that just about everything is made in house… by rachel and her staff. so, i had to ask…when one works in a chocolate shop, does one get tired of chocolate? i don’t get tired of chocolate but i get selective .i know it’s good so. track 3- well, if the smells and looks were anything to go on, then i had a feeling it was going to be better than good. we were making some cake pops of our own in honor of breast cancer awareness. rachel played around in the milk chocolate a bit to loosen it up and make sure it was what she called shiny. she said dipping the cake pops wasn’t nearly as easy as it looked and i must say…i agree.the trick, i quickly learned, is to not leave the cake pop in the chocolate too long so it doesn’t fall off the stick…and to cover the cake down to the tip of the stick…then..came the hard part. turn shake, turn shake…don’t let the cake pop fall.it’s nerve wracking; it’s too much. track 4- after turning and shaking until my cake pop had just about stopped dripping, i dipped each side in our pink breast cancer awareness ribbons and confetti before sitting it down to dry. i’d just about mastered that when we moved to dark chocolate covered pretzels.while set up was taking place, rachel talked about the tempering process of chocolate…somethin g the average chocolate lover thinks nothing about you go from over 100 degrees and drop down to 88 degrees for dark chocolate so once you get to that temperature, you increase it to about 90 for dark chocolate and that ensures that once chocolate is set, it will have great characteristics of wonderfully tasting chocolate track 5- once the chocolate was hot enough pretzels were put on the belt to go under a dripping wall of dark chocolate. they slowly headed to the cooling tunnel, but not before i sprinkled some more of our pink and white confetti on top. after about 3 minutes they made it to the end of the road and then it was time…. who doesn’t love chocolate.we did good, this is delicious mmmm this is really good.strawberry cake.i’m partial to milk chocolate we brought back some chocolate covered caramel, some cake pops, some white chocolate lolly pops…some of the pretzels we made…everything was so delicious. and head by and make a purchase because for the rest of october, ten percent of all in store sales will go to the nanticoke memorial hospital cancer care fund in honor of breast cancer awareness month. they’re located in seaford, delaware off of norman eskridge parkway. so check them out and be sure to join us next week for another great round of cooking in kitchen insider. stay tuned… more news and weather straight ahead. good morning delmarva! it’s 6-30 am.
