Sussex High forum addresses heroin epidemic

The fight against the heroin epidemic in Delaware continues. Tuesday night there was an open forum discussion about addiction, held at Sussex Central High in Georgetown.
Among the speakers state representative,Timothy Dukes and community members who were once addicted themselves. The event was hosted by Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental health, Sussex county health coalition and Philadelphia Camden Heroin Response Strategy.
The panel discussion featured people sharing personal experiences, promotion of treatment and hope for those currently fighting addiction.
"I am so grateful to be here with you tonight because I get to see addiction from both sides," said a recovered addict as she began her panel discussion. "When I started using 5 years ago addiction was not talked about. It was hidden. People were embarrassed to say who they were. With forums like this, that's changing."
