Students charged with terroristic threatening after reported bomb threat in Smyrna

Two high school students were arrested after reportedly making bomb threats on Monday.
According to Smyrna Police, investigators arrested two Smyrna High School students for bomb threats that were made to the school. Police say, on Monday morning, Smyrna Police investigators found out that an Instagram account was making threats of clowns being violent towards SHS students.
Police say the social media account was then shut down and the school was taken on lockdown, while investigators tried to find the source of the threats. An employee of the school reportedly then also got an email saying that there were bombs in the school, and also inside of cars in the parking lot.
During this, officials say SHS was evacuated and explosive detection K9 teams swept and emptied the building. SPD investigators were reportedly able to link two high school students to the the threats from computer forensic investigative skills.
Detectives reportedly made multiple electronic search warrants and were able to get evidence linking the students to the threats. The suspects have been arrested and charged with felony terroristic threatening, and second degree conspiracy.
One of the students was arraigned and committed to the People’s Place on $5,000 secured bond, and the other suspect was arraigned and released on $5,000 bond. Both suspects have been court ordered to have no contact with the Smyrna School District.
Police say it has been found that the threats made by the pair were made up and fictional.
