Student arrested after reported threats made in Wicomico County

Jy'Asia Oney, 18, Salisbury

A student was arrested on arson and resisting arrest charges after reportedly threatening Wicomico High School in Salisbury.

According to court documents, on October 6, around 1:20PM, officers responded to the main office of Wicomico High School on Long Avenue because of a radio request from a school official.

When the officer got there, court documents show, the official told the officer that 18-year-old Ny’Asia Oney of Salisbury, got mad with the official, and said that she was going to blow up the school. Oney reportedly then disappeared into the school, and the official wanted Oney found right away because of the threat. When officers found Oney outside of the media building, the officer went into the building where Oney told him to get away from her several times. Students and teachers reportedly went outside to see what was going on, and Oney went inside a classroom. When officials followed, Oney reportedly yelled and cursed again, calling officials expletives and telling them to get away from her.

Since the principal was in fear for students and teachers safety, he asked  them to leave the classroom. When everyone left the classroom, Oney was arrested for threats of arson and disorderly conduct. Oney reportedly would not let the officer arrest her, and so the officer had to reportedly put Oney on the floor to complete the arrest.

Oney was arrested on charges of threat of arson, probable cause for threats of arson for threatening to blow the school up, disturbing a learning environment, and resisting arrest.

Oney was also reportedly taken to PRMC for statements that she allegedly made while she was being arrested, and she was reportedly  later committed to Wicomico Detention Center on Monday and released on $2,000 bond on Wednesday.
