Pruitt’s 2OT GW Lifts Crisfield Past Washington

The Crisfield field hockey team earned a huge conference win Wednesday afternoon when they topped Washington 4-3 in double overtime off a score from Lainie Pruitt. The win improves the Crabbers to 7-4, while the loss drops the Jaguars to 6-6.
In the beginning, the Jaguars’ Nicole Thornton hit an electrifying cross body goal giving the Jags some momentum with an early 1-0 lead. The Crabbers didn’t take long to respond as Lainie Pruitt hits a flaming shot off of an assist from Annabelle Mrohs to tie the game at 1. The Jags then take back their lead with a goal from Hannah Eccord. Crisfield answers again with another goal from Mykara Fuller to notch it back at 2-2. After the Jaguars and Crabbers go back and forth the game was tied at the end of regulation at 3. After a scoreless first overtime, Lainie Pruitt come through for the Crabbers, scoring the game winner off a corner for the home team.
Both teams will now await the release of the state tournament draw to find out who they play next.
