Police say they are investigating a shooting that happened in Dover on Sunday.

According to Dover Police, there is a shooting investigation going on, after a Sunday morning shooting happened in the parking lot of Wawa on Forrest Avenue in Dover. Police say around 1AM on Sunday, officers in the area heard shots fired at the convenience store. When police arrived, they reportedly saw a large SUV leave the scene at a high rate of speed. Police say officers stopped the car, and learned that an unknown suspect had fired a gun in their direction as a fight was about to start in the parking lot.

Police say then, a 21-year-old man was contacted at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right elbow. Police say the victim told investigators that he was pumping gas when he was shot in the elbow, and he reportedly got a ride to the hospital from friends. Detectives are reportedly working to identify the suspect in the shooting at this time.
