Police say they are investigating a theft of a trailer along with a burglary to a house nearby that happened Tuesday morning in Milford.

According to police around 7:30AM on Tuesday, an unknown suspect went into the parking lot of Hitch RV on Bay Road, and backed up to a travel trailer where he reportedly hooked onto it and drove away.

Police say the trailer was later found about 30 minutes later at a home on Barratts Chapel Road where the suspect unhitched it and left in in the yard. The 31-year-old resident of the home reportedly awoke from dogs barking, and police say he soon found out that his house had been broken into, and that his cell phone was stolen.

A silver pickup truck was reportedly seen driving away from the house westbound on Barratts Chapel Road. Troopers then were called to a home on Barratts Chapel Road for reports that a man was trying to go into a house but he was not able to get in, and so he left in a light colored pickup truck.

Police say, the car then reportedly shown in the surveillance photos from Hitch RV looks like a silver or grey pickup truck with a red and white four wheeler in the bed. Police say the only description they have is that the suspect is a tall man.

If anyone has information on the suspect’s identity or information on the pickup truck, they are asked to call Trooper R. Spanier at 302-698-8548. Information may also be given by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
