Police: Glen Burnie Man charged after car accident on Route 50

Police say a man has been charged with driving under the influence and other charges after a car accident that happened Monday night in Salisbury.
According to Maryland State Police, on Monday around 6:15PM, troopers were called to Westbound Route 50 near Walston Switch Road because of a car accident.
When police got there, they say that troopers found with witness account that the fault car, a 2014 Nissan Versa being driven by 22-year-old Eric Gibson of Glen Burnie, was speeding on Route 50, and trying to pass between two cars driving the same direction before crashing into them. He also reportedly crashed into a tree on the right hand side of the road.
Investigation reportedly found that Gibson’s car crashed into the other cars before losing control and leaving the right hand side of the road. Gibson’s car then reportedly went off the road into the wood-line before turning onto its roof, striking a tree, and keeping Gibson stuck in the car.
Gibson reportedly had to be freed from the car by Parsonsburg Fire Department, and police say, he was taken to PRMC for multiple injuries. Police say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, and Gibson was therefore charged.
The drivers and occupants of the other cars were reportedly not injured in the crash.
