Pocomoke Field Hockey Takes Lead In South, Tops Bennett

The Pocomoke field hockey team won their 6th straight match Friday afternoon after they topped Bennett 4-2. The win improves the Warriors to 6-3, while the loss drops the Clippers to 5-2.
The Warriors would strike first in the first half a corner. The ball would be deflected off a shot and be loose in front of the cage where Cristen Quillen would put it away. Both teams would lock down defensively the rest of the half as the Warriors would take a 1-0 lead into the break. Bennett would then have a chance to tie the match off a penalty stroke, but Dom Farrace would come up with a great diving save in goal to preserve the lead. Her team would respond at the other end, getting quick scores from Peyton Becker and D’nasia Jones. Bennett would then get one back after Emma Chandler would be able to finish a loose ball in front of the cage. After Pocomoke added another, Hope Hare would add the final score of the game late.
Pocomoke returns to work on Monday when they host St. Michaels, while Bennett travels to Washington on Wednesday.
