Pocomoke Field Hockey Overcomes Slow Start To Top Washington

Pocomoke’s field hockey team overcome a slow start to pull out a 5-1 win over Washington. The win improves the Warriors to 5-3, while the loss drops the Jaguars to 4-3.

The Jaguars would come out fired up, grabbing the early lead after Mariana Day was able to take a pass from Jessica Wells and send it home. The Warriors would would find a fast response as Peyton Becker would take one in and fire it home. The teams would be tied at 1-1 through most of the first half before Kasey Lee was able to take a pass of a corner, and finish far post to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead at the break. Pocomoke’s offense would find its form in the second half though, starting with a rocket of a shot from the Mackenzie Mitchell off the right side. Then just minutes later, Mitchell would send a cross to D’nasia Jones would put one in. The Jaguars then turned up their intensity and would generate a couple good shots on goal, but Dom Farrace would come up with one great save after another for Pocomoke. The Warriors would then put the match away with a strike from Cristen Quillen off a loose ball in front of the cage.

Pocomoke returns to action on Friday when they travel to James M. Bennett, while Washington host Easton on Friday.
