Pick A Pal invites those to adopt a furry friend

Pick A Pal Day is designed for adoption organizations around Delmarva to offer discounts allowing you to bring home a furry friend to add to your family pack. It includes dogs, cats, and even horses.

Worcester County Humane Society’s adoption coordinator, Jessica Summer, says in order to apply, you fill out an application. Their main goal is to find the best fit for for the adopters and the pet. Summer say its a minor screening process and they usually like to get some vet references.

Summer says if you want a hyper dog to go hiking or a lap dog to cuddle with it is important for them to make a perfect match.

All the animals at Worcester County Humane Society are spayed and neutered and microchipped.

Summer tells 47 ABC while they encourage everyone looking for a four-legged family member they emphasize the importance of responsibility when taking this step.

She states, “Make sure that you know along with finding the perfect fit for them that everybody is aware of the medical needs that each animal might have. These are shelter animals so some of them are older but you know I walk everybody through the steps of what will be required of them in the future.”

As an adoption coordinator, Summer says the best part of her job is hearing the positive responses from adopters saying how happy their pets are.

These organizations enforce a 24-hour waiting period just in case you decide to change your mind.

Summer says all of these fees during the application process help them, as they are non-profit. She says they have many animals they need to care for and they give them the best care that they possibly can do.
