Party Like Its 1999! Eagles Rise Up For Bayside Crown!

The Snow Hill girls soccer team’s special season continued Tuesday night as they became the first 1A school to earn the Bayside Title since it was 1999, when they defeated Kent Island 5-2. The win improves the Eagles to 11-2, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 10-3.

The Eagles came out firing early on. They rattled off shot after shot, but they were either off frame, or directly at the Bucs keeper Madi Banks who would come up with the save. Finally, the Eagles would figure it out after Rylee Covington sent a cross into the box. Kelsey Hall would trap the ball, then back heel it to Anna Adams for the score to the far post. Shortly after that, Kent Island would answer right back, getting a score from McKenzie Mogel on a break away. But it was all Eagles from there. Hall would play a ball into the box off a corner and find Covington at the far post, who would head it home to put Snow Hill back out in front. After Kent Island tied it up again in the second half, the Eagles would take the lead for good. Hannah Jones would track down a ball just as the Bucs keeper would get there, but be able to deflect it in for the score. The Eagles would add two more score before it was done, including a strike to the upper 90 from Hall.

Snow Hill returns to action in the state playoffs when they host the winner of Mardela and Colonel Richardson, while Kent Island takes on the winner of Queen Anne’s and Wi-Hi.
