Parts of Snow Hill Road still shut down

The aftermath of this past weekends flooding, a part of Snow Hill Road near the Nassawango Creek area remains shut down after a sink hole caused the road to cave in.

Locals say part of the road near Mount Olive Church Road washed away very early Saturday morning when a sink hole was created by flooding.

Later that day the state highway administration closed off the road and slowly took apart the rest of the road piece by piece to alleviate the water pressure building up on the road.

Our crew asked Vic Smullen, who lives right across from the damage, how the experience has been.

“it’s quiet, we love it.  No we don’t love it, it’s a big inconvenience for everyone cause those people down here couldn’t get out or in, at least we had a way out,” Smullen said.

Smullen said he’s been told by state officials that as soon as the water is fully receded that a contract will be put out to start construction.
