On the Job: Slaughter House Farm

Halloween is next week, which to many means candy and costumes and to some, means trying to scare the devil out of others. At Slaughter House Farm in Laurel, that’s something they do every weekend leading up to Halloween.
From masked people chasing you with chainsaws through graveyards to evil clowns climbing fences and blood soaked butchers running up to you and getting in your face, you’re sure to get the scare of a lifetime.
Terry and Kerri Scott own the place and they started it four years ago. But it’s not just to scare your socks off, it’s also for a good cause. A majority of their proceeds go right to “Operation We Care”, a non-profit organization that provides services for our local law enforcement as well as military troops overseas.
There are many exhibits throughout the farm including the doll room. When walking through, you come face to face with creepy dolls. You then are lead to a clown room where clowns climb fences that surround you. Folks then come out to a corn field called “Stalkers Field”. It’s a quarter of a mile long!
Out in the cornfield Terry says there is a parked school bus and kids will come running up to you asking if you’ve seen their bus driver. Terry says the bus driver either cuts out with a gun or a chainsaw and comes right out after you. Also in the field is a murder scene involving a crashed car.
Terry says they also use shotguns inside and outside of the exhibits. Of course, the shotguns are real, but they fire blanks. Another exhibit they have, the butcher room. This is complete with a hanging table, which is used for victims to lie on.
After walking through the butcher room, you come to a maze and someone chases you through it! All this, while sound effects of squealing pigs are playing above your head. While walking through the maze, you come to a hanging bodies room. Whatever exhibit you walk through, you’re sure to get scared!
Next week On the Job 47 ABC heads to East Coast Garden Center to help them out with a few planting projects.
