Morris’ Goal Sends Parkside Past Easton In State Playoffs

The No. 2 Parkside field hockey team protected home field Thursday afternoon when they topped No. 3 Easton 1-0 thanks to a first half score from Kaitlyn Morris. The Rams advance to now face No. 1 Kent Island on Monday.

The Rams would take control of the possession early on. Parkside would generate a couple scoring opportunities off corner, but wasn’t able to put one past Warriors keeper Isabelle Morrison who came up with several great saves. Finally with around 15 minutes to go in the half, the Rams would finally break through. Parkside would draw a corner that Maura Mears would send to the top of the circle. There, Sarah Diller would send a shot in near post that would get deflected in by Morris. The Warriors would look to answer before the half was done as they would draw a corner of their own. The ball would find Lexi McDaniel who would send a shot on frame, but Tori Barmony would come up with a great save to help keep her team in front. Parkside continued to control the possession in the second half, limiting scoring chances for the road team. The Rams nearly added to their lead off another good shot from Diller, but Morrison would be able to turn it away at the last second. Time would expire, as the Rams would advance to the second round.
