Millennials could play a key role in presidential election

Political science faculty gathered Wednesday night at Salisbury University to host a panel discussion breaking down the policy positions of both parties prior to the presidential debate.
Students were allowed to ask the panel questions and university officials said that’s key considering that a majority of these potential policies will be affecting college students in the coming years.
Assistant professor Dr. Sarah Surak said this election is important for students because college students and millennial voters are typically a demographic that doesn’t come out and vote as much other groups.
Surak said she’s hopeful though that a good number of students will vote this year because of how many have been tracking the campaigns.
“They’re definitely following it, they’re definitely interested. We saw a lot more activity in the primary period when there was more choice and excitement, but (students are) excited,” Surak said.
The general election is November 11.
