Man convicted of sex abuse of a minor sentenced in Salisbury

Keith Vance, 36

Officials say a man was sentenced on Tuesday on charges of sexual abuse.

According to Wicomico County officials, a Wicomico County Circuit Judge sentenced 36-year-old Keith Alan Vance, to 30 years in the Division of Corrections, with all but 15 years of that time suspended, for second degree sexual offense.

The sentence was reportedly ordered to be served without the possibility of parole.

Officials say Vance was also sentenced to an addition 10 years for sex abuse of a minor. The ten years was reportedly ordered to be served continuously. On July 19, a jury convicted Vance of second degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, and third degree sex offense.

The victim was reportedly five and six years old when Vance committed the offenses from 2011-2013. When Vance is released, officials say, he will have to register as a tier three sex offender for the rest of his life.

The case was reportedly investigated by the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center and prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney, Karen M. Dean.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Ella Disharoon reportedly applauded lead investigator Ed Fissel of the Salisbury Police Department.
