Man arrested in New Castle Co. for attempted kidnapping

32-year-old Joseph Kriger

New Castle County Police say they have arrested a man in reference to an incident that happened on Wednesday in the Four Seasons community.

According to the report, around 4:50PM, County Police responded to the area of East Edgewater Way and Clipper Court for a report of an attempted kidnapping that had just happened.

When officers arrived, they conducted interviews and were able to find out that 32-year-old Joseph Kriger allegedly tried to abduct two pre-teen children as they played in the neighborhood.

Officials say that the suspect, who was driving a car, did not come in physical contact with the victims.

Detectives took over the investigation and obtained a warrant for Kriger’s arrest.

On Thursday, officers reported to Kriger’s home in the unit block of Harkfort Road, and arrested him without incident.

Officials say that Kriger was charged with two counts of attempted second-degree kidnapping. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $50,000 cash-only bail, and he was issued a no contact order with anyone under 18-years-old.
