Man arrested after trying to steal golf cart

Early in the morning on Sunday, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says they responded a campground for reports of a theft.

According to the report, around 1AM, a deputy went to the Roaring Point Campground for a report of a suspect, who was identified as Keith Short, trying to steal a golf cart.

When the deputy arrived, they met with the owner of the cart who claimed that he caught Short trying to drive away in his golf cart.

Officials say that Short was at the campground for a party and appeared intoxicated to the deputy. Short also apparently told the deputy that he intended to drive around the campground until he found someone to stay with.

The deputy placed Short under arrest and took him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner and charged with theft $1000-$10,000.

Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Short on Personal Recognizance.
