Huge Second Half Helps Polytech Top Laurel To Stay Perfect

The Polytech boys soccer team stayed perfect on the year after netting all of their six goals on the second half on their way to a 6-1 win over Laurel. The win improves the Panthers to 9-0, while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-5.
The Bulldogs would strike first after a strike off a corner kick would find the back of the net. The lead would hold through the remainder of the first half, but the Panthers came out with a new focus in the second half. Just 8 seconds in, and Zachary Maheu would score off a rebound that he would send to the far post. Just minutes later, a shot into the box by the Panthers would get deflected straight up, and Tyler Imprescia would be able to head it home to give his team the lead. Polytech continued to attack from there, as just minutes later Maheu would add another before Marco Maddelena would curve a free kick from outside the box into the far post for another. Laurel did all they could to slow down the momentum as Jailon Gillespie would come up with several nice saves. But Polytech kept on coming. Joshua Wingfield and Samuel Dewar would both add scores before the match was done as Polytech held on for the win.
Laurel returns to action on Tuesday when they host Seaford, while Polytech travels to Sussex Central on Thursday.
