Harrington hosts workshop to kick off Downtown District Development

more businesses to their downtown area. tonight the city will host a workshop for people interested in investing in this downtown development district. back in august – governor markell announced that harrington and four other cities in delaware have been named down development districts. the purpose of this designation is to stimulate job growth and attract new businesses, by providing a variety of incentives to investors. city officials tell 47 abc they have been working on revitalizing their downtown since 2005, so they are happy to be moving in the right direction. teresa tieman, harrington city manager ” this should be a great place where people come to work, live and play. and they are very excited about it and they understand the benefits of it. they’ve watched what’s happened in dover, seaford, and wilmington and they know that dream can come true for harrington as well.” tonight’s workshop will begin at 6 p-m and take place at the harrington fire company. and if folks miss tonight’s workshop – the city manager tells us they will be setting up pre-development meetings with intereed individuals to discuss their projects. turning now — to much lighter news… it’s time to announce
