Georgetown man arrested for false sexual abuse claim

Georgetown Police arrested 20-year-old Natanael Perez-Gonzalez for falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement.

Authorities said that on Sept. 20, the Georgetown resident reported he was a victim of sexual abuse. Perez-Gonzalez alleged he was 17 years old when he was involved in a sexual relationship with a teacher in the Indian River School District. His accusations resulted in the arrest of the 23-year-old Nicole Degirolano on four counts of sexual abuse of a child.

After birth certificates with conflicting birth dates for the alleged victim were presented to the Guatemala Consular, it was determined that Perez-Gonzalez was 20 years old at the time of the incident. Charges against Degirolano were dropped.

Perez-Gonzalez was also charged with second degree forgery and providing a false statement to law enforcement.  He turned himself into police on Oct. 24.
